Privacy, in plain English
The short version
Your number and your customers' numbers are only used to send your chase texts. Nothing else. We never sell or share it. Want your details deleted? Just ask.
What we collect
About you: name, trade, mobile and best time to call. If you go ahead: your business name, ABN and email.
About your customers: only what's needed to chase a quote or invoice: name, mobile and/or email, job, quote or invoice number, amount and dates.
How we use it
Only to send your chase messages and report back to you. We never use your customers' details for our own marketing, never mix data between the businesses we work for, and never sell, rent or share it.
Who can see it
Over the Line, plus the services we need to send messages (our SMS and email providers) and store the data securely. They only handle it to deliver your messages.
Keeping it safe
Stored in access-controlled accounts, not in personal phones or chats. If anything goes wrong with your data, we tell you straight away.
Deleting it
Ask any time and we delete your details and your customers' details, and confirm when it's done. If you stop using Over the Line, we delete it within 30 days anyway, unless the law says we have to keep a record (like invoices for tax).
Opt-outs
Any customer who replies STOP comes off texts the same day. For invoice reminders, we switch them to email or post.
The legal bit
Many small businesses with turnover of A$3 million or less are exempt from the Privacy Act 1988 (OAIC). We follow the Australian Privacy Principles anyway. You're responsible for making sure your customers gave you their details for the quote or job; that's what makes it fair, and legal under the Spam Act, for us to follow up for you. Questions, access or complaints: email hello@overtheline.com.au. Not happy with our answer? Contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
